conference brochure 2014Rules of Engagement is the theme for this years conference, reflecting the changing world in which local public service communicators operate and offers real value for money training.

Highlights of day one (6 November 2014) will include a session on managing major environmental issues with Zoe Hebden, Head of Communications, Avon and Somerset Police and Will Mapplebeck and Shah Amin from Newcastle City Council. There will also be a workshop on managing the politics of engagement and lobbying from Chris Murray, Director, Core Cities Group and Chris Taylor, Director, DTW. Rounding off the day will be a plenary session from David Holdstock, Director of Communications, LGA.

The high tech business school at Manchester Metropolitan university is the venue for day two with a morning devoted to all things digital. With some insightful workshops including social media everything you wanted to know by Helen Reynolds Managing Director, Social for the People. As well as a session on creating digital content from Lou Cordwell, Chief Executive, magneticNorth and a not too be missed workshop on creativity from Andy Green.

In the afternoon the emphasis moves onto personal and staff development with a number of workshops including developing your management potential with Susan Kinnear, Senior Lecturer in Public Relations, MMU Business School.

Our awards ceremony and dinner will be held on the evening of Thursday 6 November 2014. We have some great categories including best use of digital, best publication, rising star, lifetime achievement and PR on a  shoestring. Full details of how to enter an award.
