We are all eagerly anticipating this year’s CIPR Local Public Services (LPS) Conference, which will take place in Manchester on Thursday 6 and Friday 7 November 2014.
Organised by the national Local Public Services Group, the Conference, which incorporates the annual LPS Awards, is open for booking at ciprlps.eventbrite.co.uk Early booking discounts are available until 8 September 2014. Payment can be made by individuals or organisations either by online card payment or through invoice and BACS.
The theme for this premier professional development event, which is open to both CIPR members and non-members with a professional interest in public service communications, will be ‘Rules of Engagement’. The programme will explore the current landscape of public service engagement strategies and techniques with both internal and external stakeholders.
We have secured a range of highly experienced speakers from a variety of sectors, complemented by a number of breakout session topics for smaller group discussions. LPS Group Chair, Ashley Scott Wilcox, said: “This opportunity for professionals to meet and exchange ideas and experiences is not to be missed. An undoubted highlight of this year’s Conference will be one of the strongest panel debates on the future of digital that I have ever seen.” To discover the full Conference line-up, click here The 2014 conference programme.
The 2013-2014 Local Public Service Communications Awards will take place during the Conference on the evening of Thursday 6 November 2014. The awards have been revamped this year and some new categories added to take into account changes in the sector and have something for both in-house and project-based communicators.
One award category to watch is the ‘Rising Star’, which replaces the ‘Young Communicator’. Ashley said: “We recognise it is not just those blessed with youth that have a shining talent to enhance our profession. More people are coming to our sector later in life with the benefit of work/life experience and are thriving in our challenging environment – ‘Rising Star’ will recognise this.” Thanks to Manchester Metropolitan University, which is sponsoring the ‘Rising Star’ award, the winner will receive a valuable place on the online part-time Postgraduate Certificate in Public Relations and Digital Communications. This prize makes winning the award even more worthwhile. Follow this link for more details of the award categories – The 2013-2014 CIPR LPS Excellence Awards.
